I live part time in Portugal.

Motorway toll,

https://www.portugaltolls.com/en

There are two types, conventional, take a ticket, pay at exit booth, and electronic, register on line or at machine on entering Portugal. The Web site has all the details including a map that shows the two types of motorway.

Campsites,  may need to prebook at popular coastal locations. Lots of aire type stops. Wild camping  is not tolerated in many areas.

Mifi, it's probable your sim won't work or will have limited data, check with your provider. It's easy to get a local sim, pre pay monthly, the staff are helpful and most have good English .

Weather, in general the better weather is in the south.

Route to Portugal.

Depending which region of Portugal you are visiting, its faster and lower cost, (less expensive fuel and no tolls), to keep in Spain for as long as possible. If you need any route advice I may be able to help.

I have driven to Lagos for the past 3 years. Usually travel down through Spain and cross West at the coast, then return through Portugal to Santander/Bilbao. Also crossed into Portugal half way down. No problem with aires anywhere even in N Spain despite it being Jan/Feb. I got an Emovis tag which covers both Spain and Portugal which saves time and hassle at paying booths-just drive through. It also saves having to stop at the border to register a card for the auto toll roads which are everywhere in the south.

Only once had snow in N Spain and the road was kept clear by a plough. If the forecast/reports are bad then go west by the coast or keep off the high roads by staying to the east.

I use my UK SIM for data, including TV, and always had good reception and fast access.

Hope this helps
