Brian Kirby
You can get 5 day forecasts for the French leg of your journey from www.meteofrance.fr. It's all in French, but not too dificult to navigate around with a bit of experimentation. The cheapest reasonably quick trip will be via the A75 and Millau bridge, but check the weather first, the stretch South of Clermont Ferrand is high and prone to snow. 3.5 tonnes of motorhome sliding on ice can be fun, but it ain't the fastest way to travel!Quickest overall from Calais is probably A26 Troyes, A5 Langres, A31 Beaune, A7 Aix, and A8 to Italy. However, Lyon can be slow, depending on when you hit it. It tends to be best to divert around to the East, via the A46.

handyman
2 x 195 front winter tyres £230 fitted at ford (same price as kwik fit) and £60 for chains off ebay. Went this way as you would be better off with winter drive tyres anyway.
