tonyishuk
Local Garden centre ? A lot of lights now are LEDs and run off stepdown transformers Not sure what voltage they would be but would expect 12 -15 V on a pretty high amperage ( for a 200 led string 8-) Rgds
roverman
I made up my own set, buy a set of 20 buld lights ( each bulb id 12v. ) and are connected on series. Cut the bulbs and holders off and reconnect them to a twin core cable in parallel, I have used mine for 10 years now and run them of the cigar lighter. Clive
I purchase cheap 100 bulb mains light sets. Then run another wire through it and using this new wire and the existing return wire linked into the string at every 5th lamp make it work on 12 v. Sounds complicated but its not. It means you can convert mains lights to work outside by running them from an isolating 12 volt transformer.
Way2Go
Clive - 2007-11-24 9:55 PM. . . Sounds complicated . . .Er, yeah. Thanks Clive but I was really after something I could take out of a box and plug into my cigar lighter. Thanks for the feeback though.
Jana
My Christmas lights are battery operated so don't even need a plug. One set were from Avon (my favourites) but were about £8 and the others came from Tesco for about £3 but the light is a little harsher. They do get admired.
