Don Madge
If you live in the following counties you might be able to take advantage of Countrywide Autogas. http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/pdf/autogas_key_system_guide.pdf Avon Gloucestershire Herefordshire Oxfordshire Shropshire Somerset Wales Warwickshire Wiltshire Worcestershire More details at http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/Content.ice?page=EnergyAutogas&pgForward=businesscontentbasic I'm sure if you explain it is for domestic use you would get it at 5% VAT instead of 17.5%. Maybe one of our farmer friends in the area can explain fully how the system works or maybe somebody has details of a similar operation in other parts of the UK. Mel E
Except that Coutrywide Farmers' main oil business is supplying red diesel to farmers and bulk gas to all and sundry. They were our supplier for many years until we moved house, since it was much easier and lower cost to fit a gas fired boiler than it was an oil fired one - but they supply domestic heating oil as well. So they should be well familiar with the 5% VAT rate. But frankly, the VAT saving on filling a 10 Kg cylinder (say, 20 litres) is only about £1.25, less than the cost of a Sunday paper. Is it really worth the hassle? Mel E ====
