mikew1
After the mot today (failed) I realised my old 1989 ford transit based laika motorhome was now a classic as you can't buy parts from the main dealer to keep it on the road, being left hand drive makes things even more challenging. can any one out their help please, do you know where I can purchase a worm & nut steering box new or recon. for my left hand drive van or is does this spell the end for our aging motorhome? mike wooldridge. Derek Uzzell
Bit like looking for a needle in a haystack in this country I suspect. Might be worth you posting your question on the Transit Van Club's forum: http://transitvanclub.co.uk/ Another option would be to contact Martin Watts, author of the "Classic Motorcaravanning" section of MMM. donna miller
If you cant find a supplier, then how about approaching a company that sells steering racks , to recondition yours for you.

davenewellhome
Hi mike, exactly what is wrong with your existing steering box? If its excess play at the steering wheel it might well be possible to simply adjust this out. If however its play in the output shaft then it probably does need reconditioning. D. mikew1
I'm afraid its at the output shaft end, acording to the the tester its ok in the centre ahead position but move half a turn from this position & there's excesive play at the rocker shaft. I take it the pre - load adjustment only operares on the steering shaft. mike wooldridge.
