hi, i dont think you would get any of the uk tv channels in europe via tv arial. you should pick up some portugese terestrial programming, but unless you speak the language and enjoy really poor versions of neighbours type programs, i would think it a waste of time trying. the alternative would be satellite. if you have a skybox, simply purchase an 85cm dish and away you go, or you could try purchasing a cheap satellite kit such as

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Satellite-System-Dish-Manhattan-Plaza-XTF-Install-KIT_W0QQitemZ290187140738QQihZ019QQcategoryZ29783QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

im sure you can find a better deal on a similar product.

now these kits will work anywhere in europe and after a little practice are very easy to set up and find the satellite etc. you will pick up thousands of free channels from all over europe and usa but will also pick up many english speaking channels also such as sky news etc etc.

it really all depends on how much you want to watch telly..

hi we were there in September, didn't watch a lot of telly but just used the normal aerial, most daytime stuff is in portuguese but films tend to be mostly English with portuguese subtitles. News programs sometimes have some English when reporting abroad.

Great country, loved it going back ourselves in 08. if you feel like wild camping get "motorhome trails Portugal" from motorhometrails.com or "vicarious books" for a campsite guide to Portugal.
