Because being in government has nothing to do with what the people actually want or need - only what the politicians safely well away from the real world in their ivory towers think the people might want in their political perception of their world.

It is my opinion that the politicians, (and the medias) world, is bordered by the M25.

Interesting that in their publicity HMG puts an apostrophe after "People" and before the "s".

So that'll be one people then.

So the Post Office network belongs not to the entire population of the UK then, but just to one person.

Who is that one person I wonder...............

Could it be Mr Bean (oops, I meant Mr Brown)?

I don't know about now but several years back when Royal Mail ran the postal service and Post Office Counters ran the shop and post office service, shop employees and sub-postmasters had no access to mail boxes on their premises.

This meant that in the event of a problem the post master had to phone Royal Mail for help - which was not always forthcoming.

In the name of security this wonderful system dis-allowed post masters responsible for many thousands of pounds worth of cash, documents and stamps from being trust worthy enough to be able sort out a minor issue such as a full post box!

Then there was of course also the issue of demarcation by the Union of Communication Workers who opposed any access by sub post masters as it took work away from their own postal worker members.
