Guest Tracker
We are so very lucky in this wonderful country of ours to be protected from harm and evil by so many thoughtful people and I hope that you all appreciate it. The latest ruling for our own protection is that panto actors at Gorleston will no longer be allowed to throw sweets to the audience in case someone is injured and the theatre gets sued. However to maintain the true tradition of panto, sweets will be passed to the ushers who will hand them round. It is so good to see that the lunatics are still running the asylum! J9withdogs
I just Googled 'Political Correctness Gone Mad' and came up with a very interesting slant: 'We recognise bullying as the most unpleasant form of physical abuse by someone who wants to wield power of some sort over someone else. Political correctness is the most insidious form of bullying where the bullies attack the psychology and thinking of another for their own satisfaction, even though something is said in complete innocence (and ignorance) of its origins. We should recognise the politically correct brigade as nothing but bullies in another form, trying to twist the minds of others to satisfy their own inadequacies. ' That was in reply to the police being warned against using the phrase 'nitty gritty' because it originated in the slave era. Makes you think! Tony Jones
OK, now let's not worry about that lot. Richard's given us a wonderful thread title here - so why don't we use it to produce our own panto? Someone can suggest one of the traditional stories (or better still, a combination of several), and start us off with an opening narration. Then people can join in and take whatever parts they fancy. I'd suggest temporarily changing our avatars to show the part we're claiming, or the celebrity panto-actor we're taking off (eg Janine could be Amy Winehouse playing the Wicked Witch?) Personally, I think cinderella would be good, but I'm not sure whether I should be Jeremy Clarkson playing Buttons or Gordon Brown playing Baron Stonybroke. Anyone want to kick off? Tony PS isn't it a pity we've lost some of the REAL panto-villains off here?
J9withdogs
Good idea, Tony, but should you start a new thread entitled Forum Panto or something?
Tony Jones
OK, but I don't know if there's a way to transfer these 2 postings so I'll just copy and paste the text from mine into a new thread with that title. So ... EVERYONE ... please DON'T join in the panto on this thread after all, or we'll get very (even more) confused. Use "Forum Panto."
