HELP!!

We have a Hobby 750 motorhome, with a OMNISTOR5002 awning.

We recently purchased a OMNISTOR Safari room for it but due to the oval shape of our Hobby the safari room does fully fit onto the side of the Hobby.

Has anyone else come across this problem and how did you solve it. We live in our Hobby on a permanent basis and the extra room would be nice!!

Any thoughts would be greatly received.

We left Uk two and a half years ago and never looked back, we have so far visited 14 countries, but have been coming down to the Costa Del Sol for the winters. this is our third winter here, not much here really except the sun.......approaching middle of December and still in shorts and tee shirts so cant be bad....however when there is no Sol then there is no Costa!!! If you stay on one sight for at least a month you get 60% discount so its costing us about €300.00 a month plus about €20.00 for electric....Best of luck but make the right decision for the right reasons....oh yes and have a Happy Christmas...even if its not a warm one!!!!George and Jenny Hayes

Making it fit - here are a couple of suggestions:

1) Find a local garment (sewing) repair shop and see if they can alter it to fit - you'll have to carefully mark what material you want removing and edging but they should be able to do it for you as they will have good quality sewing machines.

2) My preferred option though is to add in extra side pieces - if there is enough 'slack' in the roll-out awning to allow it to be extended a little bit more but still be kept tight/rigid, then you could instead have a piece of additional edging made to go at both sides, to match the shape of the van on one edge and the straight side of the safari side on the other. This could then be attached to the original safari room sides with velcro. The advantage is that if you then decide to change the safari room, or vans, you can still sell on the original as it would still be usable for other straight sided vans, or use it yourself on a straight sided van (as I know they ain't cheap!).

It depends where in the Uk you are. There used to be a Company called "Tent Valeting" in Farnworth, nr Bolton, owned by a guy called Malcolm Shuttleworth, they used to alter awnings etc. I know they used to do a mailorder service at one time but we have been in France for 7 years so don't know the situation to date. They did alter an awning for us and other friends and did a very good job indeed. It might be worth a try.

We have a Caravanstore Zip (04) which has a long bungee cord to hold the sides onto the 'van wall. Are the wall sides on your Omnistore held in with a pole and, if so, can these be positioned slightly outboard and use bungees to the same effect?
