Overnighting at/near Eurotunnel

If all you want is a safe cheap overnight, have a look at the "mixed reviews" on the thread about "Le Portel." We've never stayed there overnight but we've "filled & emptied" there a couple of times when planning to overnight at the ferryport.

Not any kind of a holiday destination (although there are always some people who look "encamped!"), but it does what it says on the tin, and it's free.

There is a splendid Aire just down from Calais with superb views across the channel. this is a private aire, if memory serves me right its about 5 euros a night including water and waste dump. This aire is so peaceful not at all like the ones at Calais and Le Portel. here is a link to the aire on the camping car info website

We have also stayed at the car park outside the pets passport check in. However they have re designed the parking spaces so there is less room now.

Also as it was end of June & quite busy so there was still quite a lot of coming and going through out the night we found.

but threr are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area well worth considering

We have stayed at Cap Nez Aire a few times, I think the carpark that was used has had a barrier added , but there tends to be round 7 vans parked there on the outside area and we have never not got in.

Gorgeous veiws and very quiet, only 10 mins from tunnel.

Have a great time

As you are heading towards Reims, I would recommend the aire at Arques. For the exact location see the http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm and go to Department 62. The parking is usually free (or at worst 2€) and it is by a lake. Services are 2€. Follow the signs for "Camping" (Camping Beauséjour) and Claimarais. It is very quiet and a pleasant spot, hard standing or grass is available.
