Clive
My mobile wouldnt send any texts today, I was blaming Vodaphone for it. Eventually I removed the battery, slid it back on and turned on the phone. BINGO a handfull of texts came in and those in my outbox went out. Thanks Dave and Jackie. Its been busy here today and I take on the roll of turkey supremo, washer upper and putter away. Son, daughter in law and their 3 sprogs, plus my better half Janet and her mum made 8 for dinner and tea. Suprisingly it all went well, no arguements this year! Tomorrow daughter and her hubby have invited us for Boxing day lunch, they have even bought a new dining room table in our honour ooooooer! Thursday tea its a mad house with all of the above plus outher outlaws making 16. We hope to escape with the van for new years eve/day. We had some carol singers at the door, they sung "we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year".. I advised them that they are supposed to sing a carol first, they left. So I printed a "Carol Selection List" and pinned it to the outside of the front door. BINGO next night more singers, same tune. I directed their attention to the list of tunes on the door. The sung the words "Away in a Manger" then came to a halt. "Whats up" I asked. "We don,t know the words" they replied. At this point I presented both singers with a free complimentary copy of the word sheet which covered 6 most popular carols. The little dears sung "Away in a manger" in its entirety. I gave them a few quid and my Mrs sat round the corner could hardly contain herself. Brilliant, I told the kids to keep the sheets. Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year. See you all soon. Wingpete
Well, On Christmas day, after a hearty meal in the previous evening, we sat around for a while, checking out the pressies. Then, after a few ice cold beers, went for a drive around our friends area, seeing Kangaroos & Emu's. Too hot to get out of air con car, it was 38 C ! Today, it was a drive into Perth, drive alongside the sea, watching the bathers and surfers. Stopped by in old town area of Fremantle. Very Victorian style building, now used as pubs & restaurants. After more cold beer, drove back to abode, now sheltering inside, as it is now 40 c, having another cold beer. Great time to be here. Hymer C 9.
I know one of those V type gadgets you slice vegs with, and I just turned to the CD player as my New Eagles CD was playing (its great) and instead of scliceing the carrots sliced through my nail and fingure. As you can guess lots of fingure jokes to go with our Christmas Dinner. Carol.
howie
Bit of a circus yesterday, but nice and quiet now. Bought the wife a gold ring with "Together Forever" inscribed on the inside and she immediately burst in to tears. A really emotional moment, but thats women for you. 8-)
Mel B
Howie, it was lucky that that's all it said, that's the problem with buying from a pawnbroker, you never know what to expect! Paid off though I guess! :D ;-)

howie
Hi Melanie. No big deal this, but do you mind not calling me your "little sugar puff". I,m afraid I find this both childish and demeaning, and would very much appreciate if the usual endearment of "fluffy bunny" be used in all future postings. I see more tears over this ring in the near future when the wife gets her next statement through the post, and she finds that the purchase of said ring was paid for with her card. Didn,t seem a bad idea at the time, but must admit to a certain apprehension as that day gets nearer. :-(
