we are looking to buy our first motorhome at the york show. it will be a used model. are the deals and offers genuine or would i be better visiting the dealers premises after the show. we have visited a few dealers already and there seems to be very little discount even with no part exchange

The benefit of going to a show is that you can play the dealers off against each other more easily, however, you might have to be less restrictive on the actual van you want as they more than likely won't have the same ones. You can get good deals at the show but just remember not to buy from a dealer too far away from you as, if you need to go back after you've got it, you could have a very long drive!!! Don't forget to have a good look at the private sales as you can get some real bargains so long as you are careful and get any 'van checked out properly before you purchase.

a friend of ours bought an american RV at a show.On it there was a sticker "special show price". A week later he saw the same vehicle advertised by the dealer in MMM at £5,000 less!!!!!

Just returned from York show in the process of research before we buy.Brownhills had same hymer motorcaravan at show which we had previously seen in one of their showrooms we visited in June. The salesman stated then that great deals were to be had at the York show however, the same van had the same price tag as in the showroom. When we enquired about the price on windscreen we were told that was the deal nothing less. We travelled quite a distance to visit Brownhills and thought they were genuine, now very apprehensive to buy from them at all.Is this because they have the monopoly on hynmer sales,we were very keen on hymer may have to rethink.
