Sparkle
Come on then.... dish the gossip.... We can only take breaks when Bruce isn't gigging, so we either have to plan time off, or just take off when we can, nothing planned yet, but I think a trip down to Gibralter might be in there somewhere... stock up on food from Safeways... and I'd like to also go to Portugal to Porto..... loads of free samples, and as i don't drive the m/h then I could make sure I get more than my fair share!! Anyone done north Italy? Always fancied it....might be on the list as well..at some point in the future.
Clive
Did Italy many many years back in a Dormobile, went through all the little roads via Pisa down to Regio Calabria on the southerrn most tip. Climbed the leaning tower. Started to come back via Pompei and other major places of interest and we were bombarded with rogues trying to flog us anything, scrounge money on the pretext of having lost passports and being bundled to pick our pockets that we were not able to leave the motorhome unattended for fear of it being robbed. They even tried to force us to a halt while driving. Certainly not relaxing. So we drove from Regio through all the gallery,s (the children counted them) all the way to Sete where we relaxed. I have only been to Italy since on business a couple of times. These people were nice - but they wanted our business! I hope its bettery now but I don,t feel the need to test it out as there are so many other places to go to where we can relax. Sorry tale but true C. Syd
We are in the middle of the planning of a long trip to Italy next year. Have not fixed a start or end date or exact itenery yet but the basic plan so far is Start at Lake Garda, for about 2 weeks. on to Rimini for about 2 weeks, then slowly down to Brindisi for about 2 weeks, then slowly on to Reggio Di Calabria for about a week, slowly up to Pompei via the coast road for at least a week, Naples ( maybe for a couple of hours), Rome for at least two weeks, Pisa for a week then slowly up and around to Monaco staying in Cagnes Sur Mer (a very nice place that). After that my better half wants to have another look at Spain but no plans for that have been made yet, would like to visit Gibralter but we will see. Nothing definate as yet but we have got to have something to aim for haven't we Anyone with any notes/advice on Italy?? advice always gratefully accepted

J9withdogs
Gibralter is... well... different in a samey sort of way, if you know what I mean *-) We stayed at the The Rock Hotel, which was faded colonial style. Once you have done the rock itself with apes & history, and shopped the main street, that's just about all there is to do/see. Has to be done once, but I don't think I would go again. Syd
icelander - 2007-12-30 3:20 PM some trip planned Syd Hi icelander Yes it is some trip for sure and boy are we looking forward to it. We are very lucky to be able to do it. Usually we do long fast journeys to our destination but this time we are limmiting our journeys to just four hours at a time once we get to Lake Garda Had about ten week in Europe this year and each time the weather has been between awful and just acceptable, we are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather this trip as there is so much to see. We have had everything fitted to the caravan that one could posibly need except internet connection and am looking to find some secure way of getting that fitted before we go as I need to be getting onto the net every day without fail. I am looking at replacing our sky ariel with the Alden ’’Netmaster 90’’ Satellite System and killing two birds with one stone.
davenewellhome
Well up till now the furthest afield we've been in any motorhome is Dublin (well worth it even if only for the craic and Guinness ;-) ) but next August we plan to do a fortnight on the continent taking in the Dusseldorf Caravan Salon. Other than that it'll be Peterborough end of April, Malvern in August and York in September and whatever weekends we can snatch. D.
GJH
After the problems of this year we are determined to enjoy the van next year. Got trips planned for each month up to and including September (part of the joy of being retired). Probably catch you at York Dave. Graham
cronkle
This year is the year we intend to go to northen Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. Thats about as much detail as we have planned other than the whole adventure being fitted into June and I would like to try the Chunnel. Over the next few months I shall enjoy doing things like working out routes (I'm not proud, I'm always open to suggestions) and places to stop on the way and when we are there (not proud about suggestions for that either). They came to England in 1840, but I don't hold out much hope of tracing them back further. My son has told me what a wonderful country it is, so I have to go.
