Tony Jones
Problem is not taking them down too late, it's putting them up too early! Weekend before Christmas is plenty soon enough, or MAYBE the one before that if Christmas is early in the week (as it was this time). "CHRISTMAS" DOES NOT EQUAL "DECEMBER" - traditionally, it's the period from Christmas Eve to the 12th night. Tony

BGD
In Spain they don't come down until 7th January - 'cos 6th January is "Three kings Day", which is a biggie for people over here.
Clive
Our decorations come down New Years Day and the wife goes mad on a New Years deep clean. Everything out of all the cupboards. This hasn,t been used for a year so it can go out. Just think how much less we will have when we move. I blame the Simpsons for the modern Christmas "The birth of Santa". Are we still allowed to admit to being at all religious, even Church of England in todays politically correct environment? I had better shut up! MandyAndy
Mine always go up on the 11th as thats my birthday and 2 weeks exactly to Christmas day, mainly because it was the only way I could get the ex and Andy to help me with them. They tend to find putting them up a pain and getting them out of the loft even worse, so a bit of "Well it is my birthday" always helps. Took ours down yesterday because we got withdrawl symptoms and need to get away in the van this weekend, no idea where we are going yet, think the Norfolk coast may be in the running. I heard it was unlucky to leave them past the 12th night and if you did you had to leave them till Easter Sunday before removing them, which I did in one house having undone the centre streamer left it hanging down the corner and forgot about it till too late, caused a great many conversations though!! Tony Jones
One year (back in the 70's I think) I never got round to removing the last string of fairy lights from the living room until June. Switched them off though. That was the same house where we had rewiring done, and I found an old roll of wallpaper in the loft so I covered all those plastered channels with it using blu-tack. And we're still married 8-) 8-) 8-) !! Tony
J9withdogs
A man from the same school of decorating as me - I've got a piece of white plastic blu-tacked to the ceiling in the bedroom, covering up the hole where the previous lightfitting was. No-one's noticed it yet! (lol)

Frankkia
Well I know Christmas is over now as I can now start getting the 'van ready and loaded for the treck south. Since moving house at the end of October the 'van has become a chicken shed - and in fact since we took delivery on 1st June it has only done about 2000 miles as we were selling the old house. We hope to be away by late next week and back at the end of April. In that time will try and keep up with you all with the laptop and the Archos on wifi hotspots. Boy am I looking forward to the break from working on houses!

Jeremy on the other hand makes me want to hit you!!! :D That's why it's only an avatar Mel, so you CAN'T hit it! I quite like the Jeremy pic, at least while I'm vanless, but if you really want to look at my handsome features the original pic is still in my profile, in the other box.
