Mel E
Fast Route: Santander > Burgos > Dual Carriageway all the rest of the way past Madrid > Belem> past Cordoba > past Sevilla > border > on to Faro. More Interesting Route: Branch right at Burgos and visit the great Spanish towns of Salamanca, Caceres, Merida, Trujillo, Avila (a bit off route) down to the same Dual carriageway north of Sevilla. Depends how fast you want to get to Faro. Mel E ====
Mel E
I forgot to add that there are decent all year camp sites at Salamanca, Merida, Carceres, Sevilla (just off the d-c near the airport), and just before Burgos on the road from Vitoria. Consult the Caravan Club's Camping Europe which are the best Guides available. Mel E ====
Sparkle
It would be sacriligious not to stop at Segovia, Salamanca or Toledo at some point...Much nicer to come down thru Spain to see the variety of the country rather than to stick to the coast if you come straight down thru France and then down the coast past Barcelona and Alicante etc...
