parkmoy
How serious are these if they are very fine? Can they be fixed easily?
Derek Uzzell
If the cracks are just in the upper surface of the gel coat I strongly suggest you leave them alone. The normal 'fix' would be to enlarge the cracks, fill them and, after smoothing the filler down, spray-paint the GRP panel involved.
colinfrier
Hi Best not to ignore the problem but are you sure its not just dirt tracks which can be confused. If it is gell coat crazeing talk to a Yaught Chandler they have suitable paints for the problem Colin
Guest peter
If you want to fix them, use a V scraper and enlarge them. Then fill them with "Gel Coat Repair Paste" obtainable from Boat chandler and made by Plastic Padding. Which is white, so needs no painting at all. Put it in according to the instructions and smooth it down with "Wet or Dry" paper used wet until smooth, then cut it back with Farecla G3 and polish it. If you need to tint it, use Cellulose paint. But if they are fine, I would leave them. I've had "Star Crazing" on my boat for years with no adverse effects.
parkmoy
Thanks for the advice. I think I'll just keep a close eye on them for now. As long as they don't spread or get worse they are not too much of a problem.
