RoyH
I know this is an oft arising subject but I happened across this site and thought it might be useful to any who are venturing abroad for the first time and are wondering about all this talk of reversed polarity and all that. Any way if it of use to someone then great. http://www.davidklyne.plus.com/frencheuropeanelectric.htm
parkmoy
I think this is one of the clearest explanations for non technical readers. Thanks for the posting.

BGD
Roy - the advice on that website is very good, and although the writer only mentions France as having many of the two-pin type plug sockets on Camping site hook-up bollards, in our experience they are also very common indeed on sites here in Spain. Basil
Whilst quite good there is one ambiguous part where he describes his method of correcting reverse polarity and states, "1 X Short lead with male and female CEE17 plugs on either end wired with the positive and neutral wired the wrong way round. Make sure you mark this lead as crossed polarity so that it can't be used under the wrong circumstances. " It needs to be clarified that the positive (Live) and the Neutral need to be wired the wrong way round OB ONE END ONLY. Bas
