Sparkle
So, come on then, sorting out the wheat from the chaff, who's coming down with Tony, or meeting up with him and us here in sunny Spain....? Where the skies are blue, and you can sunbathe and everything in the warm climate.... where you can drink tasty sangria and nibble on bread and garlic mayo.... and black olives... or green..... And you get to see Bruce, LIVE, in whole glorious technic colour, and maybe even a gig if you time it right!!! PS: Don't forget the Baileys will you!! CliveH
I have only got one Bailey - why do you want us all there in one type of 'van? :-D We have been planning a trip from Northern Spain (Ferry Plymouth - Santander then a week or two in the Rioja region (I wonder why)) or possibly longer! And then a tour round and up through France going back Cherbourg – Poole (we live about an hour from Poole) - but sadly with a elderly disabled relative to look after - it looks like we will be staying in the UK again this year. Planning these trips keeps us going in the winter months but at the same time you feel guilty because we know very well that before we can do any such trip a sad event has to happen. Sorry - do not mean to put a damper on any meeting - cos seriously me and SWMBO would be very much up for it if circumstances were different. :-S
Syd
Sadly our trip out there is not going to coincide with Tony's visit. We will be there from early March but we will be leaving the area just before Tony arrives. The main reason for our short visit is to look at purchasing something more permanent to stay in later. BGD
Morning Syd - If and when you get over here and you want any advice about buying in Spain (particularly how not to get scammed!), give us a shout. We've now bought three properties over here and are selling one just this week, but the process is (as you may well already know) very different to the UK. In many ways it's much simpler, but for your own sake do not believe a single word eminating from any so-called Estate Agent over here. They are totally unregulated, and IMHO nothing but a bunch of self-interested sharks. I have several personal experiences (and have heard of many more from friends here) of Agency employees blatantly lying to the prospective buyers face, in order to get a sale. Your chances of suing and getting any damages for such things are in practice zero here, so "Buyer Beware" is really important. In our personal experience it's much safer, and a lot cheaper, to buy privately than through an agent, so long as you've got a good property lawyer to check things out. Selling privately (advert on the property, or in local papers) is much more common in Spain, and avoids for both buyer and seller the huge commissions that agents generally wring from sales. Also, the long and very big tradition of part white and part black money for property sales is alive and well here; virtually every sale goes through with a substantial part of the price not being officially declared....which has big tax benefits for both buyer and seller.
