CliveH
Five surgeons are discussing who has the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered." The second responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is colour-coded." The third surgeon says, "No, I really think librarians are the best; everything inside them is in alphabetical order." The fourth surgeon chimes in, "You know, I like construction workers. Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over at the end, and when the job takes longer than you said it would." But the fifth surgeon shut them all up when he observed, "You are all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains and no spine, and there are only two moving parts, the mouth and the asshole - and they are interchangeable." Guest Tracker
I think Clive the aptness of that parable will become even more apparent tomorrow!
CliveH
Indeed it will rich - indeed it will. I have no faith in Darling (known as "the badger" because of his white hair and black eyebrows.) whatsoever. he has had to backtrack on his stupid CGT alterations and runs the risk of stifling investment in the UK with his really stupid attack on Non-doms. And if we really needed any more evidence that a politicians anus and mouth were interchangeable - in The Independent yesterday there was an article that exposed the new London Congestion charge as the stupidest "tax" ever (my description - they are a tad more polite). http://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/comment/stephen-king-how-the-congestion-charge-lost-its-principles-793723.html Because the new £25 a day charge worked on +226g/Km CO2 - cars like the Volkswagen Sharan 1.8T @247g/km will be charged but a BMW X5 3.0sd at 216g/km will not. Similarly the new Freelander 2 TD4 only comes in at 196g/km so can we expect to see certain VW Sharans being sold to people out in the sticks and a rush to buy Urban 4x4's??? And amusingly - the Porsche Boxter comes in at 222g/km so that car will not get charged the £25. So perhaps Porsche ARE looking at more of the principle of the thing rather than the commercial effect it could have on them? BUT Wow!!!!! - won't Sian Berry of the Ban the Urban 4x4 numpty alliance be pissed!!! The silly girl backed Livingstone thinking this will ban 4x4's when in fact it makes them more attractive than a lot of average saloons and people carriers! (lol) (lol) (lol) Sometimes - when the truth comes out the fallout for those who have "an agenda" is just too funny for words.
Guest Tracker
We started the year looking at more economical cars but I am disinclined to get into one of Grasping Gordon's pigeon holes so we have now been looking at Jag 'S' type 2.7d , Audi TT Quatro225, Merc CLK, BMW X3 or X5, or something of that ilk, and sod the environmentalists! I've seen too many good friends die leaving too much cash to their ungrateful kids!
donna miller
Excellent post Clive, It's about time these "ban the 4x4 brigade" got a dose of reality, I have said for years that all their claims and scaremongering would backfire one day, looks like that day is even closer.
