Derek Uzzell
laikaman: The website for the firm bob-b mentions is: http://www.mthautogas.co.uk/ From what I recall Laika (in recent years at least) has used latex foam for motorhome mattresses. This foam has a long life and doesn't degrade like the cheaper plastic stuff. If your mattress is latex-based and not physically damaged, it might be better - and probably be a good deal cheaper- to have it recovered rather than replace it. Otherwise, there are companies who will make bespoke mattresses - for example http://www.foamtec.co.uk/id2.html Might also be worthwhile contacting motorhome converters (Devon, RS Motorhomes, etc.) to see if they will tell you from where they source their bedding. ChasB
I have just had a pocket sprung mattress made for a fixed bed, the old one was foam and worn out after 6 years use. I went to Whaling Upholstery their website is http://www.whalinupholstery.co.uk/ It wasn’t cheap, but what cost do you put on a good nights sleep. I remember previous vans when we had to make up the bed by arranging cushions. God bless fixed beds. Whaling Upholstery is at Alfreton Derbyshire about 5mins from junction 28 of the M1. I took the old mattress to them and they use the original cover; I wanted that so it matched the rest of the upholstery in the van, I know you can’t see the mattress when the bed is made but it will look better when I replace the van that is if I do. I picked up the new one within a week. I have no connection with the firm other than being a satisfied customer.
BrianR
I can recommend these people http://www.cbscc.co.uk/ I got a new mattress for my Talisman from them and they were very good on price, product quality and service. They have a wide choice of foams and covers. They also offer a nearby place to stay on their website. You could combine it with your visit to MTH, perhaps.
