Whilst at first they might appear to be fat lazy beer guzzling gits, take a closer look. Numbers 2&3 have at least put themselves in front of any on coming traffic, selfless is the word you girls are looking for. Number 5 too is walking on the outside of the road ensuring the safety of his beloved, so caring. Number 4 has not only provided transport and a seat but has fitted safety rails that in the event of a crash would prove life saving, it's just a "skinned" Volvo really and they aint cheap. And with number 1 it's a matter of bouyancy. If he sat near the front the bow would just dip below the surface and thus sink the boat. Nor come to that a council house. I've read of people coming here getting ripped off by employers paying below the minimum wage, gang masters making them pay money for living in condemned housing, getting abuse from local people. I've read of people coming from another European Union state and working here doing the rubbish jobs that people here won't do for such low wages. Who can't claim state benefits. People who are trying to improve their lives and the lives of their families, exactly like those people from the UK who moved to Australia and New Zealand in the 50s and 60s, and are still going to this day. Not to mention the people retiring to Spain and France, who have never put in a days work in those countries but still want to use the health and welfare services there. If it's good enough for them why not people from other countries coming here. I've read of their grandparents who help this country stand against tyranny and fascism, people who gave their lives to bring information of Nazi secret weapons, the Enigma machine, and who risked all to assassinate the man who would most likely have been Hitlers' chosen replacement. I've read of people who were then stabbed in the back by the UK government who sent back to their country thousands of refugees and soldiers who were then sent to labour camps by the Russians. People who then fought Communism to a standstill and made Eastern Europe free nations for the first time in nearly 100 years. So if they want to come here and imrove their standard of living and try to give their kids a better life then I think we should appreciate what we owe them and not be so abusive. Afterall everyone who ever came to this island was at one time an immigrant so what's the difference between Vikings, Romans, Normans, Angles, Saxons and Poles, Rumanians, West Indians, Asians and Africans apart from time and history. I've noticed a fair bit of subtle and not so subtle intolerance and racism appearing in this forum lately, (and I don't mean people making jokes or having a different opinion to mine), I mean proper denigrating of a person because of their ethnicity or sexual lifestyles. Not everyone will agree and many will disagree because they know they have strayed into that area even unwittingly and now feel a bit uncomfortable. I'm sorry Tamworth if you were just joking and have copped for all this rant, but I have been quite shocked and thought I had to speak out now.
