Unlike the UK post code system the French post code only identifies a town/city. The French postal code consists of five digits, the first two digits being the number of the département in which the post office in charge of delivery to a town is located. If you want to check or find a French post code see http://www.france-codepostal.fr/en/ A French post code can sometimes be used to locate a place if you have the full address; it's not a lot of help trying to locate an aire that has no address.
