4petedaniel
We have just got back from spending the winter in Spain. We took a gamble and went without breakdown or health insurance, as the quotes that I got where more than I wanted to spend , as I really did not know what the trip was going to cost. we got off with a bit of luck, even though I had a problem with my neck on the return journey. but I do not want to risk it again. does anyone know how to get both the above insurances for the over 65-72 Petedaniel
Stuart
Caravan Club certainly covers members, I imagine they would cover non-members too. We are both over 70, no probs there so far. Stuart
Philman
Safeguard do Travel Insurance independently from their motorhome insurance which BTW includes free breakdown insurance. We are both retired and have been insured with them for 8 years. Phil.
David Dwight
we use Safeguard for our Motorhome insurance and also holiday insurance through them. We have had to use both their recovery and holiday insurance and were very pleased with the service. The holiday insurance was paid by return of post from submitting the claim. Guest JudgeMental
check that you are not covered already via household insurance policy, we are worldwide by Barclay's - pointless paying twice... While the E11 will suffice for most medical eventualities, except repatriation which can be very expensive*-) surely breakdown is essential while in Europe, we have this through motorhome insurance policy as well. Check your Warranty, Eddie - your new Ford should have European breakdown cover included, unless that's just UK ones? Tony
Mel E
PeteDaniel, Your need is not currently that urgent, so wait a month or so and there will be an article in MMM covering all the options and a load of suggested insurers. Incidentally, the E111 is no more. It has been replaced by the EHIC - European Health Insurance Card, available online. Mel E ====
Wingpete
Regarding the health insurance part, I have just had to deal with this problem. My previous insurer has a cut off of 70 yrs, which I now am. Online searches for so called specialists for over 70's proved ridiculous, many quoting figures of around £700 to £800 for annual policies, many only doing single trips, some refusing North America at all. My asthma was part of problem, but been under contro for over 30 yrs. Finally found AA Travel best deal, for worldwide annual travel, limited to 45 days, but more if notified beforehand. Can go away up to 185 days by arrangement at no extra cost. The cost is £145,20p.
