Guest Howard Cutler
We are considering visiting the 4 Xmas markets in Koln in Dec 05 and wondered if anybody has stayed at sites in/near Kohn? The caravan club european site book shows 2 sites open. We are particularly interested in sites where we can get transport ie bus or tram or boat or train into Cologne. thanks howardc
Guest Julie
Try Camping Berger in Koln-Rodenkirchen. Directions - from A4 take A555 towards Bonn, exit at Rodednkirchen and follow signs. These take you round the surburb so don't worry. There is a flood relief scheme being implemented which means the bus stop has been moved a little further away. The bus takes you to the station where you catch the tram/train into the centre. Takes about 45 mins in total. Tickets for the transport can be bought in reception and the timetables are on the notice board near the loos. The lunchtime shutdown is 12 - 13. Guest Ina
I can recommend the campsite too, we stayed there 2 years ago, also in December. We ended up staying on the road within the campsite though, as the weather had been extremely wet before our arrival and most pitches are on grass. But that was no problem. Public transport is excellent. You have a nice view of the river Rhine and in December there are boats going up and down with Christmas parties on board, all lit up, very festive. The toiletblock is superb, lovely and warm.
