malc d
You need to look at the small print carefully ( as always with insurance). Some require that someone is 'regularly' checking your home while you are away.
P5B Rover
Thanks folks. I will contact my insurance company tomorrow and see if they will do an extension to their standard 30 days unoccupied. Even if it is extra on the premium it will give peace of mind...hopefully...

Jean Ray
Hi P5B, We have our home contents insurance with Nationwide. You can be away from home for 12 months and provided that you have the burgular alarm and 5 lever locks fitted they will insure you and don't even charge you any extra. If you go on the website (www.nationwide.co.uk) you will see the ad for insurance , just click on it . You can fill the form in on line and they will give you a quote there and then. We found them very reasonable. Good Luck Jean & Ray
