OK - a typical non too subtle challenge.

Let’s see if the “Gang of Four” can either ignore (is it worth responding to a DM quote?) - or engage at a higher level?

Why? Did you or he respond to this thread?

Ok I'll bite.

Have a read of a more balanced report from the local paper:

"There were some paperwork barriers to overcome but sales into the EU are now increasing nicely.

Also Brexit gave us an opportunity to sell fish from along the South Coast as fishermen looked for other ways to sell their fish which was previously exported direct into the EU.

In June, we began transporting fish to Brixham from as many as 15 ports along the south and south east coast, and even from Wales.

The fishermen were hit hard during the beginning of the pandemic as fish prices fell though the floor.

However, we managed to stay open, as key workers, and we still managed to sell everything that was landed even though it was for a fraction of the price.

In June 2019, we were lucky enough to have installed the first cloud-based online auction clock which was the first of its kind in the world - www.aucxis.com/en/e-trade - which saw Brixham Fish Market leap ahead of our competitors."

https://www.torbayweekly.co.uk/news/working-to-ensure-success-of-brixham-fishing-industry-8591150

In summary:

Other ports that could no longer sell directly to the EU were selling their fish through Brixham.

Brixham had introduced a online sales market in 2019.

The documentation changed again for EU exports on 1st January so lets just watch this space.

You would think the Brexiteers if they had any sense and wanted to make stuff up about Brexit success stories that the last thing they would choose would be fishing. Good news for Brixham but fishing and especially shell fishing has been hit hard across the rest of the UK and the easiest way to prove that is to go and ask the fishermen around our coast what they think of Brexit now and Johnsons betrayal. Fishermen, once the poster boys of Brexit ironically have been shafted the most.

We should also remember though that we did indeed actually leave with a deal (a bad one for us but a deal all the same) so its not impossible to trade with the EU, just much harder. Many on here including Pelmet were all for us leaving without a deal.

You cannot expect things to be better post Brexit if all you are going to do is carry on the same as you did before. How can it be? How can trade with the EU be better when we made it harder? If you wanted Brexit to lead you to the sunlit uplands then where is the brave plan B because all we have seen so far is the government acting like we haven't left. How is that going to work long term?

How many more lies would the Daily Mail have to print before you stopped quoting them as proof?
