Blimey.....Rudd finally wakes up. Steady on Amber....you're sounding like a socialist.

Universal credit to blame for soaring food bank use, government admits after years of denial

Rudd said, “It is absolutely clear that there were challenges with the initial rollout of universal credit –and the main issue that led to an increase in food bank use could have been the fact that people had difficulty accessing their money early enough.”

Frank Field MP said, “At last, we have a secretary of state who is willing to have a much more open debate on the link that exists between universal credit and the need for food banks,” Mr Field said.

“Most importantly for claimants, this debate needs to result in action which eliminates the lengthy wait for benefits to be paid.”

I have first hand experience of food bank handouts ... Its a load of old cobblers ... Chancers taking advantage of numpties who wanna feel better about themselves ... Those who care should put the needy up in their homes , but do they ??? ... Do they eck ... Bit hypocritical of a Tory hater to be praising what a Tory says ... Then again his hypocrisy is well documented on ere

I can feel that there is so much love in you Anthony, you cannot keep repressing your feelings for your fellow man of all creeds, colour or religion any longer. Go and ask one of the needy for a hug, you'll feel better for it.

PS good to see you're taking more time over your spelling, although you do still need to address your grammar.

Roofing work dried up then? So which benefits are you drawing....UC, job seekers or what? How much a week and how long did you have to wait? Be good to hear from a UC claimant given that's the thread subject.

Really? Read the op again and thread title. There's not a lot of reading so you should be able to cope.

Once that has registered, you can enlighten us all to your "first hand experience of food bank handouts".

There is a thread title, a brief quote from the article, and a link. As i know you don't read links (except your own), you could at least try the two former which are self explanatory.

Do try and keep up.

Homophobic as well then Anthony? Are you sure you're not just over compensating? Perhaps this is the route cause of your anger? Repressed homosexuality?

This is modern Britain Anthony, you can come out and be open about your sexuality. Life is a much happier place when you're not hating all the time, come out and feel the love.

The Un rapporteur pointed out in his 2018 Report on Poverty in Britain....... 1.5 million people in the UK are destiture...(that means "without the basic ncessities of ife" or "penniless")and 14 million are living in poverty. Those who want to deny the impact Universal credit has had on the UK are as evil as the Tory Party they support. Victorian diseases of poverty such as Beri beri and rickets have returned to the UK. Disaster Capitalists such as Rees-Mogg (his father wrote a book on it)are making a huge 'killing'...Brexit will afford them their biggest windfall EVER indeed it has already.....where small groups make millions sucking up the wealth, which fragments the population, resulting in decaying infrastructure, declining incomes, rising unemployment or precarious work....this is the UK today!!
Of course, it is obvious to those who want to see it but to those cowards who don't they will pretend it does not exist...there will always be evil people who do evil to others, by ommission or commission, but remember 'Evil can prevail only if good people do nothing' so no matter what they say or write we must continue to write and speak as we find and challenge the evil so prevalent everywhere in the UK today.

If you read back you will see it was yourself who wrote "Its not about food banks".....not me, but do feel free to quote where i said it wasn't.

The only 'confusion' being created, quite blatantly and on purpose, is coming solely from yourself with childish ad homs pretending to be unable to comprehend more than one syllable. If you cannot comprehend grammar then you should stay on Twitter where you'd feel more at home.

Excellent post.

Yes....and his full report can be read here. https://www.ohchr.org/EN/NewsEvents/Pages/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=23881&LangID=E

And an excellent report from Channel 4 news;
https://www.channel4.com/news/un-expert-says-austerity-has-condemned-millions-to-poverty

McVey who wreaked havoc during her tenure as DWP Sec and was staggeringly insensitive. Utterly horrible woman beneath contempt and as Prof Alston said, ministers he spoke to were so far out of touch, they were in a state of denial.

FGS READ the damn article then try making a mature contribution for once.

But we were on about the thread title princess which you put in the word "food banks" and then said it wasn't about them it was about UC ... If you create confusion then your going to be picked up on it ... Try being a little clearer

I'll translate ... You made a booboo

Why don't you read his report instead of spouting rubbish? Apparently your boyfriend has "first hand experience of food bank handouts" though he's remained very secretive on this and won't say which benefits or what this "experience" was (or is).
