Yes you're right, he says it was "essential because it's part of my job, and the guidance also says that you should go to work and do your job normally if you absolutely have to.

I agree with him that he should explain what the government is doing - but he could sit in Downing street and tell us - he quite clearly didn't need to go to Bristol.
IF he really thinks it's necessary, I assume he will be visiting ALL new centres as they open ?
Why not turn up at every hospital/ clinic/ surgery delivery of vaccine so that we know it's happening ?
As for his bike ride - doesn't bother me. It is rare that cyclists are less than two metres from anyone for any length of time - whether they are 5 -10 or 15 miles from home.
Even his bike ride looks like a photo opportunity - who else goes for " exercise " - on a bike - wearing a suit ?

Exactly.....he could have explained from Downing street just as he could have exercised at home rather than putting others at risk. Security would have accompanied him either by car of bike. Either way it's unnecessary and he ignored his own ruling.
He hasn't been taking this seriously at all and imo he continually sends out all the wrong messages.
