I think I’ve made my mind up, but I could be swayed.
Norway was a short destination in 2014, having visited our daughter in Stockholm, and spent some enjoyable time in Sweden.
We went as far as Lillehammer, and I was able to take a trip down the bobsleigh run in a 6-man wheelbob, 1:05.76, amazing.
We noted at the time that the coastal route was being developed and thought it might be a reason to return and explore more of the country.
So, having got the van back in action with a trip to France last September, I thought We could go back to Norway in “23”
It is undeniably a beautiful country, and a trip up to the Lofotan Islands, via Sweden, and back down to Bergen might just be feasible in April or June of this year. We’d also be on the right side of the road to get the best coastal experience.
As I do all of the driving it would be a challenge, but I like the idea.
Now that there is no direct ferry to Norway, from Newcastle, it is a bit less appealing, although visiting our daughter who has moved to Gothenburg, still requires that we drive a considerable distance before we get started on any trip to Scandinavia.
Thinking back to our last trip, which was 13 days, I have to admit that the social scene in Norway was rather limited. It’s not that we are big drinkers, but eating and drinking out were pretty limited, and the cost of living was just very expensive then , so probably painfully so now.
Also, I suppose that the opportunities to get away from fellow tourists on the chosen route would be limited, that’s what we all go for.
Some of you may have recent experience to offer, or ways to make the costs more bearable?
Have I missed something?
Or do we concentrate on France and Spain for a few years?
