  1. Hi It sounds like it may be suffering from "clutch drag " Make sure the clutch is disengaging fully when you press the clutch pedal This needs to be checked first to see and if anything was disturbed, and then rectified , Example-gearbox mount Was the motorhome unused for a long period of time? Regards
  2. Hi, A photo of the engine of that vintage from the O.P. would have been very helpful ,to advise Regards
  3. Hi Yes it should operate fine within that range Regards
  4. Hi Then again as Derek has pointed out you have a large membership following , so why not make your feelings known as a group, if these control units are going down. I have no idea who in NZ could look at your control panel Someone in that large group may be able to advise Regards
  5. Hi I am afraid this is progress , (no dipstick) Sometimes one does really wonder! Regards
  6. Hi Ok are we talking about the Gauge itself on the tank ? or the remote electrical gauge ? Often a short drive on a bumpy road gets the tank gauge reading correctly as does the electric one if fitted when left turn on Always do this run on a bumpy road before topping up Tank alignment is very important for it also to work correctly Regards
  7. Hi Enjoy your three week break ,take your time on the road now that you know there may be an issue with bonding of same. Hopefully the recall on your return will sort all out for you , No stress, no pressure, that's what it should all be about Regards
  8. Thanks for the update MikeF , undersized connections and conductors is becoming a problem with quite a few DC automotive connections and looms especially when made cheaply with poor QC Also the least bit of condensation and it fails Regards
  9. Hi Thanks for your reply, were the pin /pins corroded ? Regards
  10. Hi Derek. It is infuriating when you are trying to help someone out But as Stevec176 points out the information that is provided may help someone else Yes they have to be very careful as to the quality of the information provided and care must be taken in applying it Its great that you do check up and give a heads up and not be wasting other peoples time if really they are not interested Both yourself and all that give good advice to others are appreciated Regards
  11. Hi The danger here if Anna has no experience of DC electrics, may actually cause more damage and as MikeF has indicated a fire would be a big concern. She did say she just wanted a steer , and the basic checks have been provided Professional help is needed without DC electrical knowledge to replace any damaged components Regards
  12. Hi anna Your original post stated you were looking for a steer I have no idea how knowledgeable you are with DC and i have no idea of the history of the Motorhome to advise You but you asked for a steer and that I have done. 1 Hence why I asked was the engine locked and checked now if it turns over freely? 2 Have you checked all the connections that have been disturbed and are the connected correctly and tight? 3 That all earth straps are in good condition ? (Replace if not sure ) These are the basics you need to check first and then move on If you are unsure how to carry out these basic steps as one would never need a schematic for the earth wires as the are visible As you now also say it also was not charging? 4 The wiring from the alternator needs to be checked for damage and the alternator itself checked I would advise you seek the help of a professional if you are not familiar with Auto DC electrics
  13. Hi Of course you can, Was the engine running prior to this? Is the engine locked? Ensure the engine free to turn, first Have you checked all your connections are correct and making sure that all contacts are good and wired correctly Why not replace all earth wires (as they are the cause of many problems) Take it from there Regards
  14. I am afraid so with a lot of modern diesels they do not have a lot of redundancy in their cooling system also as they get on a bit , we have found the odd time it does become an issue Usually a good flush out and refill of coolant works with a small power gain without issue Regards
  15. Hi David , You are right to error on the side of caution and replace all Just a heads up on the tuning remap, make sure the cooling system gets a good flush out and checking before refilling with coolant. This is often gets overlooked and can cause some problems the odd time Best of luck with it Regards
  16. Hi If TTY bolts are fitted why not replace them? Regards
  17. Hi, The Dometic RM8400 is not difficult to service , but as the OP has acknowledged they are easily damaged if you are not sure what you are doing So care is needed , No reflection on who is doing the job , but it can be a difficult task if you have not done these jobs before, very easy when you are at them on a regular basis I hope you got your thermocouple cleaned and around your burner , very light tap on the flue is a old trick to help dislodge dust , then vacuum out Hope you got all back together and working Regards
  18. Hi Brian, Yes maybe , but they did quote a number (ABS pump), anything to do with a fault in the ABS system needs attention for safety alone I would always have to advise, if work was done to the ABS system and such safety features are not working and known to be not working , not to drive such a defective vehicle, Again we do not know the full history of the repairs or non repairs to the ABS system and components of this van , I also find it very strange to be told it was unrepairable (ABS Pump 7H0614117A Photo) Regards
  19. Yes they can be cleaned with a very light touch of fine emery paper and dry wipe carefully Better replacing it , when one is that far into the job for peace of mind Ok , but better to wait for one than try a repair on the gas side of a fridge that may be playing up as you say It may just end up causing a fire or worse. Safety is always worth waiting for Regards
  20. It is , biggest issue sometimes can be a little rust ,which makes it a little difficult to pull out. If you have never worked on gas appliances before maybe better leave it to the professionals Regards
  21. Hi No brute force needed A flat bladed screwdriver (or old hacksaw blade) is needed just to lever and slide gently the tab (that Derek has posted to you) Then just pull it off Regards
  22. Hi Again without actually seeing the pump and knowing what history of work has been carried out on the van ,one is only guessing at to what damage may be done (considered you were told it was not repairable) As Keith advises you need to check your vin plate, have your van weighed (loaded) and adjust your loading according so you are within the permitted limits on your Vin Plate. (Vin Plate is situated inside engine bay on the wheel arch) I would advise, if work was done to the braking system and such safety features are not working and known to be not working , not to drive such a defective vehicle, your insurance may also be an issue considering same. Get a second opinion as to the faults, It is repairable of course ,but many other elements may also need to be replaced
