Brian ... just checked and in a really small font there is a set of initials with a postcode and "BS AU 145e" So it probably is legal. The font is so small that you have to get on hands and knees to read it though! The suppliers way of keeping below the radar I guess? Jeremy PS I drive an old Saab 900 "N" reg which belonged to an old lady owner from new. She died and I bought it from her daughter.The old lady over about 10 years had it regularly serviced at a garage in Headcorn Kent who from the paperwork I got with the car ripped her off really badly every time she went there. I covered their name on the rear plate with yellow tape as I didn't want to advertise them. That was several years ago and no one has ever pulled me up for it? Looks like that regulation has no teeth? Jeremy

Brian ... I bought an "Ebay" front plate for our Benimar after an advisory on an MOT as the existing was delaminating as the supplying clown dealer had cracked it when drilling. I believe that the new number plate is quite legal ... why would it not be? it is the person who supplies it that is not legal as they don't see the reg document. I think it highly unlikely that English Border staff would worry about a rear plate ( unless you reversed up to the booth?) And judging by the number of hand written plates on cars and trailers, the average GB plod would not either? With some paper/yellow tape and a marker pen I reckon you would get away with a temporary plate? Jeremy

Hi - not recent info, but I did a trip from Calais to Stalag Luft III (The Great Escape, Crumball Rally) in 2011. All done in Sigrid the Spitsaab, much to the amusement of the Germans! "Have a good trip" We camped in Leipzig here https://www.knauscamp.de/leipzig.html. Pleasant site with a restaurant which did a good breakfast. Easy trip into Leipzig by tram. We paid €20 then for 2 tents 3 people .... looks like a M/Home +2 now about €40. We stayed in Antwerp, visited the Mohne Dam, Leipzig, Stalag Luft III in Sagan, Dresden and Colditz. Ended up coming via via Munich for Oktoberfest. Jeremy

You should also check that the awning mounts are tight. I had this on my old Fiamma awning and found that one of the backing plates was adrift, which twists the backing plate. I remounted the whole thing and now it's OK

Had similar a few years ago on my 2005 2.8JTD Fiat .... turned out to be the turbo waste gate gummed up. Garage cleaned it up and no problems since. I was told then that it's worth "gunning" the engine up to say 3000rpm every so often to blow all the crud away. Jeremy

I'm not talking about sailors... I'm talking about Yachtsmen/women. Ordinary people who own or sail yachts. Many of my friends have yachts (less £'s than a motorhome!) perfectly capable of sailing around Europe. And they often do. Jeremy

This raised an interesting question! As a yachtsman/sailor (in previous years) how do Yachtsmen deal with this? Take the scenario of sailing over the channel to eg Calais. Get passport stamped in harbourmasters office. Leave next day & get passport stamped for exit. Said out into channel ( out of 3 mile limit) and turn West and sail down to small bay in eg Brittany. Anchor and go ashore in dinghy. Who would know? You could do this all the way round to the Med? There may be something on a Yachty site that could help the OP? Jeremy

I did mine for my A1 licence about 12 years ago. I used to ride a 1942 750 Harley Davidson (stick shift foot clutch) in 1967 to 1970, but never took my test! Silly me! Jeremy
