Spain is probably no more lawless than any other country, just more travellers go there so hear of more of the problems when they arise. Tip of leaving the van separately is always worth remembering if at all anxious about the area you are stopping. Lawlessness can occur wherever you, not just abroad but we should never be put off by adverse publicity, just keep one step ahead and think smart.
