ROON Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Can anyone tell me the name of the classical piece of music please, which starts after the rock piece, about 1 minute into the video (which isn't really worth watching). Thank you.
bootbags Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I have just listened to the song, I was humming along to it, it sounds familiar there is a line in it ''a time for us'' nto a lot of help I will keep singing it
bootbags Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Roon, Got it.Johnny Mathis sang it as a ballad, here are some of the wordsA time for us someday there'll beWhen chains are torn by the courage born of a love that's freeA time when dreams so long deniedCan flourish as we unveil the love we now must hide.the music as an orchestral piece was used in the 1968 Film of Romeo & Juliet with Olivia Hussey
ohgrandma Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Is there a line in the song that goes something like, There's a place for us Somehow someway. we'll find a new way of living, I can remember parts of it, isn't it annoying when you cant remember it all? Please does someone know it ?

Please does someone know it ? The lines you are quoting are from the duet sung by Maria and Tony towards the end of West Side Story after he has been stabbed - sad but great movie. Saw it 13 times when it was first released. It is now celebrating 50 years since it was written by Leonard Bernstein.
bootbags Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 ohgrandma, see my reply to Roon for the answer to her question.
ohgrandma Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Thanks Bootbags, I have heard it many times, But just could not remember from where, Ta, it was giving me a headache thinking about it. (lol)
ohgrandma Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 What do you mean Howie, " heard it many times " or she has a "headache" (lol)
Mel B Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 "Somewhere" was performed by Rhydian in the X-Factor last year - it was absolutely beautiful! :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nhvtg4X2zKw&feature=related

Mick H. Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 If you go back to the sixties P.J. Proby (him of the split trousers) had a small hit with it. Not too bad, either. Mick H.

Mick H. He released The Best of P J Proby in June of this year, it would have been more honest to put his picture as he looks now (at 70?) well maybe not, but looking a little more mature than with his beatles haircut.
Mel B Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 ROON - 2008-08-05 5:33 AM Thanks Bootbags.... you are one clever lady. Mel, what happened to Rydian? He seems to have just disappeared. As is Leon, the X-Factor winner, Rhydian is currently working on an album which should be released in the autumn - I can't wait!
