Way2Go Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Does anyone know of a suitable place to park a motorhome in Lille? We're putting together plans for a long weekend in late December and want to pop into Lille (or somewhere else with a large Christmas Market) on the way back from Northern Germany. We spent a couple of hours in Brugge last year and despite it being one of our favourite Cities, it was absolutely packed. Many thanks for your tips and suggestions.W2G

peejay Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hi W2G; http://www.destination-lille.com/netkali/netkali.aspx?IdItem=19&IdDoc=25&IdLangue=1 ...or the English version with less info... http://www.destination-lille.com/netkali/netkali.aspx?IdItem=44&IdDoc=140&IdLangue=11 The only problem is it doesn't state whether m/homes are accepted or not but its a start. There is 1 m/h parking place listed on cc-infos.com at >Lille esplanade< but the access appears to be via a 2.5 ton weight limit :-S Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. pete
Way2Go Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 Thanks for that Pete. This is what I've managed to discover if it helps anyone else :-Is there parking and campsites equipped for campers?Lille does not have a site for campers. However, there are sites available in the Decathlon Campus car park in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, on Boulevard de Mons, les Prés exit.I've found it on Google Maps and there would appear to be some larger places at the top left of the car park.GPS: 50.64576, 3.140523Parking in LilleLille has street level car parks offering about 20,000 parking spaces as well as several metro car parks in the city centre, in addition to on-street pay-and-display ticket parking. The rate generally varies between 1.30€ to 1.60€ an hour, depending on the location. For more informations on the Vinci car parks in Lille.Nevertheless, it is recommended that you park outside the city centre and use the metro or the Citadine bus.6 park-and-ride car parks with metro access offer free parking 24/7 and security surveillance Monday through Saturday, from 6 AM to midnight. They are located in Lille (metro stops Porte d'Arras, Porte des Postes and CHR B Calmette), in Lomme (metro stop Saint-Philibert) and in Villeneuve d'Ascq (metro stops Les Prés and 4 Cantons).2 park-and-ride car parks with Citadine bus access are available. The first is located in the Champ de Mars (next to the Citadel) and the second at the Porte de Valenciennes metro stop. Both offer security surveillance Monday through Saturday, from 7 AM to 8 PM. At a cost of 1.60€ for 3 hours or 3€ for the day, parking includes free rides on the Citadine bus that serves the city centre as well as the rest of the city. Outside of these hours, parking is free and unsupervised. A free car park for coaches is located on the Boulevard de Leeds (Lille Europe train station).
