Hi Carol I'm very jealous, reading your posts, while sitting in very cold Glasgow. I'd be very interested to know where in Benicarlo you can park up on the beach. We've been to the Peniscola Aire many times(the guy who runs it is charming)  and it's very good but free camping is always of interest to us. Benicarlo has the added benefit of being nearer the supermarket. Morella is very beautiful and we found the people very friendly. We haven't been since the aire has been installed but will go again. Happy travelling

Sunday 23rd November

another lovely day, bit cloudy this morning but by 2pm all the clouds had gone and we were sat having Sunday lunch in a restaurant down in town.

We got back 10 minutes before Bruce and Sparkle arrived on the Honda.

Cups of tea were made and cake put on a plate and we were soon sat and nattering away.

A good couple of hours were spent talking as the sun went down and it got decidely cold!

We nabbed a passing foreign gentleman who kindly took some pics of us, here is the one he took on my camera, I am sure there will be more to follow from kathy's camera later.

Another date has been made for us all to go out on Tuesday evening.

Watch this space...........

It's so close to the Intermarche Ike, as you drive towards Benicarlo, and drive past the Intermarche on your left, go over the bridge and take any of the right hand turnings to the beach, - the widest one is just before the swimmig pool shop about 100m up the road.when you get on the beach go to you right and there is an open area with grass, you can park up on there or on the shingle. The police drove past a couple of times and didn't bother - and there were 5 motorhomes parked up, one looked as though he had been there for over a week. This is out of season though, might be different in the summer!I will look up the gps co-ordinates on the tom tom later and post these on the forum for you.

Well boys and girls, we can report that Carol and Charles have indeed made good their escape from the Secure Wing of the MMM Residential home for the Dazed and Confused, and have holed-up in the Motorhome park in Alfaz del Pi on the Costa Blanca.

The Sparkle and I popped down on the bike to say hello and liberated some (several) of their yummy choccie cakes, together with mugs of tea, this very afternoon.

Good people, excellent humour, and great chat. :-D

We’re taking them out on Tuesday evening (before they move on, on Wednesday) in our car to show them around Altea old town, and then on to a favourite “Cheap Chinky” restaurant of our acquaintance on Altea sea front.

Two bits of bad news to report though:

1. As the sun set the temperature dropped here to such a ridiculously low level that by 6pm I had to actually put a sweatshirt on. Horrid!

(Carol was kind enough to offer to help to keep my hands warm though….a selfless and most welcome gesture, as the photo demonstrates) :D

2. We made them take one of my “THE NOMAD, Complete and Uttter Ballads” CD’s as a penance – so they’ll have to suffer my music as they navigate their (very nice indeed!) Motorhome around the rest of Spain in the coming weeks.

Sparkle and I can report that Carol and Charles are fit and well; and have had a quick ('cos it's actually very cold here tonight!) guided tour of Altea old town this evening, followed by a very nice meal at one of the Chinese restaurants on Altea seafront.

We can be seen in the photo below raising a toast (actually I think this was the later photo, taken after we'd already drunk the toast) to all of you guys and gals in the secure wing of the MMM Home for the Dazed and confused back in Blighty.

Some of you know Carol and Chas already, so will know what good people they are.

Kathy and I wish them all the best on their continuing continental travels.

(Edited to say soz, but the photo won't load due to "server error" :'(, I'll have another bash at it tomorrow)

We are moving on tomorrow, north and towards France and the ferry home. Boohoo!

We had a really good time last night with Bruce and Kathy and a very tasty chinese meal. The comany was excellent.

Yesterday we walked up the hill - Serra Gelado North! I think it is called, and had a fantastic walk, and got some good pics too.

The weather the past couple of days has been mixed, but it does get very cold at night. It's good to be on electric hook up.

This Camper Park is an excellent place to stay, I would recommend you try it if in the area.

We bought a bag of satsumas the other day for 3.5 euros - 5kg, we are not short of vitamin c LOL.

so here are some pics

Have a safe journey and don't forget to go via Monserrat, near Barcelona around 1pm for the choir (about 2 euros parking). And if you do get into Girona then look out for a small cafe in the old town which specialises in crepes, and they are cooked in a camper van in the shop! Delicious!!!

Was great meeting you guys!!

Who's next then??

Come on down!
