Guest Tracker
Vans do stay in the Loire side car parks but they are next to the main road and a bit noisy. The nearest Aires that we found and used are at Lire and Turquant. PS - Don't try to get your van up to Saumer Chateau - it's VERY narrow and has VERY tight corners and no turning space - I did and ended up driving through a vinyard to get back out again further up the main road - good job it was dry - got some funny looks from the farm workers! Robinhood
Assuming you mean Saumur..... I'm pretty sure that there was a small aire outside the municipal camping (on the island in the river - superb view of the Chateau). Checking on http://www.campingcar-infos.com/ (always worth knowing about) seems to confirm this.

PJay
Agree with Robinhood There is a place to stay on the island outside the camp site, but the campsite is not bad. We have stayed there twice, and is an easy walk to the town. There is also a place along the embankment , if you can find a space, Usually find french vans there. We've been unlucky twice there as it rained both time!! Two different years.
carolh
We stopped on the aire in Saumur in early December, there is a carpark outside the municipal campsite on the Ile de Offard, but nothing marked out especially for motorhomes and the borne is on the right just before the stadium about a 100m back up the road - it was not working! the water may have been turned off, and there is parking for one vehicle there.
