Are freeview channels hard to get on a motorhome?

They can be a bit of a bugger!

You need a strong signal to get the tuner to find any digital picture at all and this comes mainly from having the aerial pointing the right way. Problem is you don't know what is the right way until you get a picture! Catch 22.

Look around you and see what direction and polarity other folks aerials are pointing might help.

Trouble is the picture can be so fickle away from towns that everyone has their aerials pointing in different directions!

Colin, sorry if deviating from thread, but interested in what you said. Do you just RENT your vans/mhs and not own one? If so, how does this work out financially please? Not being nosey, just trying to learn. Joy

Don't normaly rent in UK/Europe, but van is off road at moment, took opertunaty to rent a Wildax Aurora as we had identified it as possible alternative to Adria Twin, but after renting ruled it out.

The hire company were after £600 for the week leading up to good friday, knocked them down to £500.

Well back after a 3 night break to test it all. Well apart from the leaking fresh water tank, the cooker/oven ignition did not work, the aerial booster would not pick up the freeview, ok for vans around us other campers told us the booster was faulty [no red light], the hot air system only blew hot air out of one vent and after being on for ten minutes had a continuous knocking noise which kept us awake all night.

This was a brand new van not sure who was supposed to quality check before delivery autosleeper factory or the dealer awaiting call back from dealer chased them up twice already.

Otherwise had a great time and enjoyed the experience, had plenty of help from other campers on various tips too, weather very cold and windy.

Assuming that not much has changed since our Duetto, (2008 model) was built, then the following observations might help:

1) There is only one hot air outlet from the heater; the other circular vent is the air intake.

2) The "continuous knocking noise" sounds like you were running the heater on diesel, not electric and such noise is normal. If you really find it obtrusive, then you have a major problem (it is only the action of the pump sending fuel to the burner). We have used the heater extensively and quite quickly get to the point of not noticing the sound at all; but people vary in their noise tolerance.

3) The fuel coming out of the filler is a pump fault, diesel pumps cut-off just the same as petrol when full.

back from the dealer

the freeview aerial seems to be my user error not scanning in dvd menu.

for reason unknown cooker/oven worked without problems when tested must have fixed itself.

your right the heater only has on blower the other is a vent and enq's in hand re the heater was using in via mains not fuel but pump may need fixing on rubber mounts to stop vibrating on the frame.

leaking fresh watertank not an easy fix will have to go to main service centre for repairs.
