Just something for you to consider. We know two couples who have bought a van with a large trasverse bathroom. Within a few months both realised that this layout was a mistake as it took space from their living area and they could have coped with a "normal" sized van bathroom all along.

That said! We also know someone with a big bathroom who loves it!

Just make sure you have thought through how you will use your van before handing over the cash!

We have to agree - our first MH after owning sailing yachts for a number of years was purchased because of the big transverse bathroom - after our first holiday we realised it was the wrong decision for us as we never used it and hated making up the lounge bed every night! "Luckily" the van had a major fault which resulted in us rejecting it as "unfit for purpose" and the manufacturers replaced it with the van we now have - fixed bed and very small bathroom...... :-S

Our Cheyenne 660 comes in two different models, with dinette and over cab bed, (called Highline vesion" by Autotrail). or dinette without over cab bed, (Lowline version"). With the "Highline", you could sleep 6 people. With the "Lowline" it is just 4. Two on the fixed rear longtitudinal bed at the rear near side and one/two on the dinette. The lowline, (ours), has bags of storage, good sized bathroom, (we think), and the build quality is very good. With the versions a few years old you can get a Mercedes engine and chassis version too.

The van has a high standard of insulation and again you can get heaters fitted to the water tanks to help in really cold weather.

Our dealer is Spinney Motors in Cheshire who I would recommend without hesitation. We've bought two vans from them and their aftersales and service dept. is good. They are Autotrail dealers too so that might help in your search. They also do other makes!

Other dealers I have had good reports of from friends, is Todds of Preston. They too are multi range dealers inc. Autotrail. Baldwins in Yorkshire helped us when we were searching for our van and seemed genuine. So did Lowdhams, though they didn't sell Autotrails. I wouldn't touch Discover Leisure with a barge pole as they seemed very lax and the sales staff were disinterested at two branches we went to. So did Campbells at Preston, (their salesman didn't want to show us a van in the rain, but would let us look through a brochure in his office then come back when it was dry!)

Good hunting!

Hi Thanks for the info.

We do have a necessity for the bigger not out of glamour but because we have a child with learnng difficulties and requiring assistance in the bathroom, there would be no way we could deal with the small bathroom to accommodate 2 people.

The Elddis Autostratus we are looking at offers plenty of floor space, a big L shaped sofa, proper rear belts, suits because it gives us the over cab double as well as a good sized dinetee bed for our child.

It's a 22ft m'home so I think it gives us enough space compared to the likes of the 19ft Elddis Autquest type m'home.
