mel wood Posted February 26, 2010 Share Posted February 26, 2010 I'm sure you will find many places but we found last June that we were more than happy to stay on the campsite just north of Portree. It was inexpensive (£9 for a motorhome and 2 adults if I remember correctly) and a very pleasant site. They do not take bookings and collect the fees early each morning. One morning when I said to the young man collecting the fees that we were exploring the island he commented that there were lots of campsites or we would be able to find somewhere to pull off the road. As it was we were happy to return to the site. We felt that it was good value and that it was worth supporting a local family business which will have a limited season. If you do wish to wild camp I wouldn't think it will be a problem as long as you stick to the normal guidelines for wild camping in Scotland. Enjoy your stay.
