JohnP
Are you saying that the hard drive is faulty or the file where you stored the information is corrupted? If you accidently deleted the file it can usually be recovered because the information is still there. It is usually possible to recover most of the files from a hard drive if you have the correct software and knowledge. Try you local computer specialist or even PC world. Brock
Sorry to read this. About a year ago I bought an external back up drive because I had so many photographs on the PC. It's been worth it. I went for a Maxtor based on the advice from Which magazine. I think I paid £80. You can get them cheaper or a lot more expensive. Recently, I bough a Mac and that has a great little trick called 'Time Machine' which effortlessly backs up my data to the Maxtor and enables me to easily recover lost items. Randonneur
I have Vista on my laptop and it is set to automatically backup at 7pm every day, after the 1st time it only backs up what has been changed. Works very well and it is included with Vista. I back up to an external hard drive but you can set it to backup onto a separate partition on your hard drive (not very secure). Not tried it yet on Windows7.
