Campsites in Rome

Hi, can anyone reccommend a decent campsite near to Rome that is clean, safe and not staffed by nutters? We will be there in about 10 days and will need to commute into Rome daily

Roma Camping, Via Aurelia. Very handy for buses into city. Easy access from Ring Road.

Tiber campsite is okay all facilaties and clean toilets, bus takes you to the station every half hour and its 2 euros return if I remember right. Also a asci site so it only costs €15

Hi in May we stayed at "Happy" that had excellent facilities and very helpful staff. They run a free mini bus to the local rail station and 4 Euros gets you a return into Rome and free all day public transport (discount for 3 day tickets).

 

The site is mainly terraced but has a flat section at the top for the larger vehicle.

 

We did hear that Tiber is prone to flooding but it also runs transport to the same station (coach), don't know if they charge.

% min walk from staion (albiet acros a busy road) then 15 min on train to centre of Rome - spend 5 days there in April and had a great time.

 

Good facilities, very clean

 

Expensive unless you have camping cheques and you are at a time they are accepted - this halves the price.

 

Rome is fascinating - enjoy.

Thanks for all help, we stayed 8 nights in Happy Camping and found it to be an excellent , safe site. We ate in the restaurant a couple of nights and enjoyed litre carafes of white wine for 6€. Excellent!
