I understand "copy" is with printers and will hopefully be issued begining of March and I have copy on order.

Found previous issue invaluable and as the new issue has 800? new aires it will be even beter.

I also use the French online site for aires but not always possible to be on www

This publication should really be called "Not... All the Aires in France" and the other one should be called "Nowhere Near... All the Aires in Spain & Particularly Portugal". Plus just about every other GPS for an Aire was wrong, according to my sat nav

We prefer the french publication now it has GPS. However some of their GPS's were also wrong.

We used it a couple of years ago and it was fine. It may not have shown all the Aires but there are so many that it did not matter and it did have over 1300 - new edition is over 2000.

It did not show motorway aires or those suspected of being dodgy as I recall and it is, of course, all in English.

However as it is now £17.50 - I have to wonder whether to revert to one of the French guides as it does seem expensive?

It may well have a nice photo for most of them but do we really need a photo for an Aire for a night or two - I don't know about you folks, but all I need is accurate lat and long for gps?

The Iberian issue was a tad more sparse two years ago than now and that did have some errors being the first issue. It had 39 Aires in Portugal and 85 in Spain and that number has now risen to 46 and 91 in the latest edition. Assuming the locations and details are more accurate now it would be worth updating this book in my view.

Not tried the Scandinavian issue yet but will get it when we go Nordkapping again!

Strewth! That's a bit pricey isn't it! I've never had one as I prefer to have a book that does include ALL the aires in France called "Aires de Services Camping-Car", we picked our 2010 one up at Cite Europe's Carrefour in August for 10 euros and you can pretty much pick them up in many of the major supermarkets. Even though it's in French, it is easy to use once you get the gist of it.

If you want you can order it from Amazon France:

Just ordered mine. Price is £16.45 including discount and free postage. I have found the 2nd edition invaluable used in conjunction with one of the French ones. I have several different ones and update them in turn each year. I have passed many an hour looking at the photos and descriptions planning my next move. I agree the price could be lower but for the effort that has been put into publishing the gude and in English as well, it is still reasonable.

Trouble is it doesn't list that many Aires, better to visit a hypermarket & buy a French book.

Pardon me asking Lenny - but how can 2000 Aires be 'not that many'?

It might well not be them all but 2000 is still quite a lot in my estimation?

Now as for the Iberian edition - that really is 'not that many'!

At this present time,I,m organising a route down to the Vendee, using the 2nd edition All the Aires in France / Camping Card ACSI 2011, I,m finding  All the Aire,s book very vague on a lot of the Direction, and way off target, but using google earth I am able to find most Aires in the given locations,  As it has already been said  Aire CampingCar is more accurate, which I,m using in conjunction with the others. but wont be buying any more All the Aires in France.

Tried using it last year Rich & gave up went and brought a French book, probably OK if you stick to the touristy areas.

We use the All the Aires Book and cross reference with our Le Monde Camping Car 2010. Both can be unreliable on co-ordinates and up to date info. We try to send up to date info to VB if we find a new aire or more up to date info on a current aire via e mail. We also use the French camping car websites.

We spend at least 2 months every year in France coming and going from various trips so it is worth it for us to buy both. This year we will not have to as VB are sending us a free one for sending in updates.

We like the photos in All the Aires as with dodgy co-ordinates it helps identify the place we should be. The thing we didnt like was them classifying only some sites as suitable for over 6 m, we now ignore that in our 7.7m van and have not yet had a problem.

Just ordered mine, my current copy is 2 years old. The reason I bought the new one was that 3 X couples inspected South/middle/north of france with some new photos. We also use Google earth for closer inspection for pre-planned Aires, the rest ad hoc visits we use the book and decide to stay or not when we get there. Even though we spend 80+ days in France, it would take us years to use everyone. Yes I was surprised with the cost, but one night on an Aire instead of a site pays for it anyway.

My mate (seperate van) is getting the French version, so we will have both.

That's only any good if you have a broadband link at the time whilst travelling, which most of us won't have - good for planning before you leave home though.

Although we use All the Aires France we find http://www.campingcar-infos.com far more useful. There are currently listed 8041 Aires across Europe including 6061 in France. We buy a download copy for €8 so that we can use it on our netbook when WiFi is not available. One can also download the POIs from the site. To download the CampingCarInfos data , photos and maps – though not the Google Maps or Google Street View. Click on the red writing below the USB stick and follow the link to either buy the information on a USB stick at €15 plus €1.50p&p or the download for €8.

Hope this information is useful to someone.

Regards,

Carl

...but from campingcar-infos.com you can download the POIs (free) in advance, or if you want the full details, you can download the full detailed content for 8 euro (or have it sent to you on a memory stick for 16.50 euro.

I don't follow your logic on broadband Mel. The first link in my post is for a pdf file which can be viewed on pc, notebook etc. or even if you have the paper and printing ink you can print out but at 450+ pages not really an option. The second link (campingcarinfo)would require an internet connection but they do a download of the site to be used on a memory stick as well as free poi for most sat navs.

Several posters have complained about various paper based guides being out of date, perhaps they should visit http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm being web based and updated regularly by campingcarists the info will be more up to date than any paper based publication
