gill
Does anyone know of a good site close to the Garonne? Want to visit relatives and know of 2 aires de service to the South. Want to be more to the north of the city. Thanks for any ideas. No France Passion within a sensible distance having just received the 2011 book and map. Thanks in advance for any info. Brian Kirby
Can find two. Have never visited either, so can't recommend. Le Rupé, Chemin du Pont de Rupé. Not far from the A62/A620 junction, between the D820 and the Garonne. GPS N43.65604 E1.41607. The other is La Bouriette, Chemin de Tournefeuille. Just south of the A624, west of the Garonne, and fairly close to, and nearly on the main runway alignment of, the Toulouse-Blagnac airport. OK for plane spotters of if you like earplugs, otherwise? However, looks quite well populated on Google Earth. GPS N43.60580 E1.37671 Both are "in" Google Streets.
gill
Many thanks Brian for your response. Hubby (Steve) has been taking a look this evening and has found the same two as you have mentioned - great minds think aliked? The area generally seems "light" on campsite info but hopefully we will not have too much difficulty - it is France after all ! Our trip will start in May so we have time to plan. Heading for Venice via Switzerland and then St Tropez before heading back. Wonderful !

Heading for Venice via Switzerland and then St Tropez before heading back. Wonderful ! Many people have their favourite site at/near Venice. Ours is Camping Serenissima, Via Padana, Oriago, on the Brenta canal, between Venice and Padua. N45.45221 E12.18308 Good supermarket a short drive, info at reception. Good, regular, reliable, bus service to Venice/Padua stops just outside site. Bus terminates Piazzale Roma in Venice, tickets from site reception. Good facilities, very well maintained, inc motorhome service point. Family run, small shop for essentials, fair prices - considering Italy and proximity to Venice. :-) Also quiet, as set back from road. Google streets camera just outside! :-D Not far from Malcontenta either - and Padua is nice, should you bore of Venice.
onecal
Le Rupe is O.K . It serves about 25 Motorhomes out of it's 180 pitches so you may need to book as it was very full when I was there two years ago. It is well shaded with large trees has 6A connection + water and drainage, they do take camping cheques. They also take Motorhomes with dogs which they keep on one side of the site together. Old site which serves it's purpose. Regards, Brendan
gill
Many thanks for the advice as regards booking at Le Rupe. We will most likely be in Toulouse around 20/21 June. Not sure what time of year you visited to necessitate booking? Thanks Gill & Steve
gill
Hi Brian Thanks for your recommendation close to Venice - sounds very interesting and we've taken a quick look at their website. It seems a bit further out to the one we've picked up through MMM but will definitely bear it in mind. We appreciate the fine detail and co-ordinates!
