Hi All

We're off to France on Monday :-D - to the Dordogne for the whole of April

:-D :-D :-D - via Dover. We normally stop on the Marine Parade and have found it in the past very convenient and quiet. Someone on the Forum mentioned there is a fish and chip shop around this location, which we have never managed to find - anyone know the exact location of this chippy?

Just did a search of the forum for 'Dover overnight' and found this posted on one of the threads by Jeremy:

If you do stop there, there is a great Fish & Chip shop just through the tunnel & off to the right of Market Sq in Castle Street!

Be careful!!! Have you seen the front page of the paper today, they are trying to take Salt from off the counters of the Fish and Chip Shops. If you want it you have got to ask for it.

Unfortunately it is Stockport Council and that is were we are at the moment.

Not seen the paper, but sounds like they are in danger of becoming Laughing-Stock Port council ......

Yes, the Castle St chippy is good, and there's usually enough on-street parking nearby to sit in the van and eat them, rather than let them go cold driving back to Marine Parade.

And as far as I know, you can still help yourself to salt and vinegar, since it's 272 miles from Stockport!

Hi Mel B

Thanks for the reply. Have had a look at it on google earth -looks good! Do you like vingar as well as salt on your chips? :-S

Alan

There are some questions you should NOT ask a lady ... but as I'm not one - both! :D

I also love loads of scraps ... the 'batter' type (not battering members of the forum!!! ). *-)

Just to add that there is an excellent Fish and Chip bar by the Aire at Calais and this info might be useful for you on the way back.

It's called the Friterie des Nations and a €2 portion of chips (their smallest size) is really quite big. The sausages are good too!
