Hi We depart 25th may ex dover calais P&O, heading south to med coast. Current idea is eastabout of Paris ( Troyes, Soissons Gien Nevers, then keep east of A75 . Van is Stargazer ,

Any one else got a similar plan at same time. ?

We have France passion book, Aires book, Camping cheque and ACSI books and wonder if there are any recommendations en route. First night plan at Arques Aire (St Omer) and Troyes Lakes has been suggested by friends. Due to arrive med coast June 1st so will be wandering a bit en route

Hello, A couple of years ago we found a campsite almost in the centre of Langres. We didn't stay but have it in mind to stay there sometime (nice town). We often stay at Beaune either on the campsite ( quite near to the town) or on the aire - there are not many marked places for motorhomes but no-one seemed to mind if you used other spaces. The aire is next to the police station. We also often stay at Avignon - the campsite we use is ACSI.

Annecy is out of the way but a lovely town on a lake. And should you decide to go down the Route Napoleon there is a good aire at Castellane.

Hi tony, departting Dover 23rd (Seafrance) and also heading for the Med but by a roundabout route, heading SW towards Nantes before going South along the Atlantic coast to Bordeaux. Onward SE to Narbonne and along the coast as far as we get.......................returning East of Paris back to Calais.

We are away 8 or 9 weeks, not booked a return yet as we may not come back!!

Have a glorious and safe trip.

Chris.

Arques is a good overnight stop last year was 2e to use the parking by the lake behind the reception area or you can just park overnight on the service area if the reception is closed ,and just north of Langres is an aire by the canal at Donjeux no charge with free electric .

There used to be a decent municipal site in Soissons alongside the canal and a nice walk into the town. Not stayed there for many years but if its still there its great for a couple of days or longer. We caught the train into Paris from there.

We're crossing 2nd May , Tunnel. heading to Ypres first for a couple of days, After that not sure, depends on weather. Will most likely go to med, and wander. May go to Spain, but probably stay in France , as long as the weather is good. Will keep a look out for any of you on our travels. We tend to only use ACSI sites. Not booked return yet , probably begining of July, when the prices go up, and sites fill with kids. (Been there , find them all to much now!!)

We travel across on the 24th of this month heading for Cartagena. Although we arrive at Zeebrugge the route we follow is basically the one from Calais. South to Rouen, cut down to Dreux, across to Chartres and then across to the A10. Then south down the A20 all the way to the Med. From discussion with other travellers it is seems a popular choice although some cut on to the A71 at Vierzon and then the A75 to Beziers.

As for sites we stop at a cheap and cheerful site at Abbeville, a municipal at Vatan just south of Vierzon and then a site around Brive before heading to Perpignan and the site Ma Prairie for a breather.

As we are oldies in no hurry we plan about 8 days from Zebrugge to Cartagena but if it is wet in the north then we will move soiuth faster. We also use both ACSI and Camping Cheque until early July when they all stop.

South to Rouen, cut down to Dreux, across to Chartres and then across to the A10. Then south down the A20 all the way to the Med.

If you want to avoid the péages there is a good road from Chartres to Blois, Valencay then Chateauroux avoiding town centres. There is then a nice small and cheap municipal camping at Bessines-sur-Gartempe (in Caravan Club Europe 1 book) just before Limoges.

Hi

We stayed at the campsite in Ypres last year, it is very handy for the Menin gate if you cut through the childrens playground at the back. We were speaking to a couple a few weeks ago who have stayed there in the last month or so who told us that it was now a fully automatic site with entry and all services accessed by card. we have not heard of this before so would be interested in feedback. Both the Menin gate and the museum in Ypres are awe inspiring.

On our way to Italy last October we went via Luxembourg, to get the cheap petrol, and then went to an ACSI site, Les Bois du Chatelais in Bourdeaux, was ACSI 1228 in 2010 book- superb site well worth a couple of days before going on to the Med. We did not find any great sites in the St Tropez / cagnes sur Mer area.

good luck

Ypres. This site was closed last summer for redevelopment, It is some what larger with a seperate area for tents.Gone have the little seclude pitches, it is now open plan some of the pitches are very tight to get on. I was there last October and the pitches where waterlogged the site had only just reopened It should have settle down by now. Beware if you use Sat Nav to get to this site it will take you to the back of the site to the leisure center and there is no acess of that road, If you come down the road Past Lidle it is a turn on the right just after the car showroom or if coming in the other way ignore the left hand turn keep on past the leisure center and then turn left. I will be heading south to the med down the west side of France in June.
