Mr. Grumpy
I know the topic has come up on this forum in the past but I can't get it back from "search". Advice please on what else should be replaced with a cam belt change on a 2004 2.3 jtd engine, which I believe is actually an Iveco motor.
euroserv
Hello, There is an idler pulley and a tensioner to change as well as the belt. It is imperative that the screw that secures the tensioner is also replaced. It is a 'stretch bolt' for some insane reason and must not be used again! This is nowhere near as easy to do as the 2.8JTD and should not be attempted by anyone inexperienced. Nick
Mr. Grumpy
Thanks Nick. I have asked my local coach company for a quote as they have Ducatos on their fleet but I also wondered if it would be better to take it to Iveco in Carlisle although this involves a 100 mile round trip. euroserv
It should not matter because if the local firm is familiar with the 2.3 Fiat they will know what to do, and the Iveco Dealer will be delighted to do it because it is easier on the Fiat than on the Daily! On the Iveco installation you have to remove the complete front of the van, radiator and other ancilliaries and the pulley is a bugger to set up! He will probably charge you more though.
