Guest Peter James
A thread on anti freeze (glcol) reminded me of something I read; Freezing point of water = 0.c Freezing point of gycol = -12.c Freezing point of gycol and water mixed together = -40.c So, a stronger solution than recommended is not just a waste of money, it can also be less effective!!! crinklystarfish
It does more than it says. Not least lubrication, anti-corrosion, and raising the boiling point of the coolant mix.
colin
If you ever have to run a T25 or similiar engine it has been found that it is better to run at much higher concentrations than VW recommend for longer engine life, optimum is 60% antifreeze to 40% water. Also if you go to many VW dealers you will be offered an unsuitable antifreeze as they seem to no longer stock the correct one.
