Brambles
This is a low maintemance Marine starter type battery with deep discharge capabilities. It is a flooded conventiional if it has a magic eye.
Derek Uzzell
More details of your battery are provided on the following files: http://www.peinturechezvous.com/site/medias/CAT-BAT-2010.pdf http://www.promauto.com/images-produits-ref/T15M-T.pdf I can’t find any on-line pricing, but I don’t think you were vastly overcharged as a) advertised French battery prices seem generally higher than in the UK b) your Tech Power battery targets a specialised market c) the on-line price of an equivalent (but not sealed) Varta leisure battery is not massively cheaper http://justcarbatteries.co.uk/index.php/leisure-batteries/varta-leisure-batteries/varta-professional-dc-lfd60.html d) you were over a barrel at the time ;-)
David B
Thanks Derek. How did you find those sources? I spent ages on Google and got no where. Let me in to your secret? Having seen the specification is there any further advice regarding ventilation? From what Brambles and yourself said previously an under seat location is considered to be "open" and therefore I need not worry about venting this battery (if it were possible) via the in situ vent tube for the old battery. Many thanks for the help from you both.
Derek Uzzell
David B - 2012-04-19 4:53 PM Thanks Derek. How did you find those sources? I spent ages on Google and got no where. Let me in to your secret? 26 years working in a government intelligence-gathering department. I GOOGLEd first on "france batterie tech power" because I knew you'd bought the battery in France. Then I added "t15m" - thus "france batterie tech power t15m" - and Bob's your uncle.
WildBill
Hi I have a new Pilote Aventura, it came with only 1 leisure battery, a 105 Amp and is marked up as a Pilote drivemobile 105 Ah (20Ah) 12V - 858 05. That is all the info on it but it is wet celled and has a breather tube attached. As it is new I was thinking of buying another 105 Ah battery to go alongside and have my eye on this one. can any of the battery experts give any advice please? http://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/buy-online/caravan-batteries-boat-batteries-leisure-batteries/lucas-sealed-ultra-deep-cycle-105ah-leisure-battery/prod_90.html TVM Bill

Your selction is a Marine starting battery. We do not need starting capability for our Motorhome applications, so sticking to the lucas range and same stable of batteries of this type you would be better with the LL26MF see http://www.tayna.co.uk/Lucas-LL26MF-Leisure-Battery-P7829.html You also cannot trust description titles, the 105Ah you linked to is actually 96Ah speced and probably comes out lower than that in reality. I have not looked for what you already have and I suppose I should to see what it is and match its ts quality. I shall do that now and see what I can find. edit - cannot find what you have fitted. If you can post a photo of it I might be able to identify it.
WildBill
Thanks for that. I tried contacting Pilote but the gist of what I was asking got lost in the translation.... :-( Bill I shall get a photo tommorrow and try to post it Thanks again. Brambles
Ermm! LOL, I meant a picture of the battery overall so i could see distinguishing features.!!! ..and better still is any numbers hot stamped in casing as it wil give the manufacture as well as the date code...not always traceable as so many factories but is a chance of finding it that way. WildBill
Just got back from the van, (its wild out there). There are no other distinguishing features or any hot stamps etc on the battery, if you could find out anything with what I have given you so far, it would be much appreciated. Brambles
OK, as far as I can make it out it is probably a semi traction design to EU and DIN standards and is of premium/commercial quality. I would match it up to something like the Banner 100 Ah Energy Bull 95751.

Brambles
It is a pain posting pics these days, you have to just ignore the error and wait a short period hit the back button and return to the thread. usually your pic has appeared despite the error. Brambles
Might be worth checking out this battery as a possibility as is similar characteristics so a good match. however does not have hold down bars/bumps at botton of case. The SLO18 (Bosch) 347x173 x 234high. It is a very good price and have mentioned on one of the other threads a few weeks ago. http://www.carbatteriesonline.co.uk and look under Bosch leisure batteries
Derek Uzzell
For what it's worth... Wildbill's battery's "Drivemobil" name suggests that it has German ancestry (which would not be a great surprise given Pilote's company structure). The name appears to originate with the German battery-manufacturer DETA that's now part of the EXIDE empire. The DETA name (and the Drivemobil one) still seem to be used and I think Wildbill's battery may be a relabelled close-cousin to the one shown at the top of this webpage: http://www.solarstrom.net/batterien.htm I can't find anything to suggest that an identical 'twin' could be obtained in the UK, though there are reasonably recent references to Drivemobil 'slow discharge' batteries on French websites. Not a problem though as there are plenty of batteries available here that would match the specification.

Brambles
davidmac - 2012-04-24 3:55 PM would the 125ah xplorer battery from alphbatteries be as good as the bosch SL4018? Regards David Straight answer from me on this one. No. The explorer will be a Marine type battey, dual starter deep discharge so will have a third of the life cycles and different internal battery resistance characteristics on discharge so will be as good a match in a pair.
