silverbike
Does anyone have the name and location of a campsite close to Athens and near a convenient bus service into the city? Thanks
Brian Kirby
Camping Athens, Leoforos Athina. About 4 miles NW of Acropolis, on main road to Corinth. Bus stop going in opposite side of road - best to walk up to traffic lights and cross there - bus stop on return practically outside. Well run with very clean, good facilities and free WiFi in 2010. Tickets from site office cover bus and tube. Public transport worked well when we visited, but be very wary of pickpockets working tube station exits. GPS N38.00664 E23.67459. vindiboy
i have just looked at Brians site, it worked out at 28 Euros a night for two with a camper and lecky, I thought Greece was skint, reasonable price for what and where it is I suppose,
Brian Kirby
We paid €29 per night in October 2010. Two of us, 1 van, inc electricity. However, it is well into Athens, so pretty much an urban site, but reasonably quiet if you stay up near the facilities and away from the road. aande83
ha ha I camped there for 3 nights last August. Crossing the road to catch the bus into the city centre was like participating in the wacky races! I saw all sorts of cars and bikes that would have our police tearing their hair out!. An excellent site for ease to travel into the centre of Athens where you will soon see just how poor they are.
