THE SHEPHERD
Is there any reason why a normal home TV with all the bells cannot be taken on tour, as it seems that for the smaller 12v/230v tvs one pays a lot of money.
snitrats
Non whatsoever, no need to buy expensive 12v 'caravan' tvs.most new ones are 12v and just require a 12v lead, and disregard the transformer.we use an Aldi 19" ,DVD & recorder £99 :-)
crinklystarfish
The 'marketed for camping' type hold more appeal for those who do not use EHU mains, particularly the smaller ones where decent power requirement savings can be made. If you do mainly camp with the orange umbilical then any TV will do.

Barryd999
As said, its worth checking the power consumption if your off hookup a lot and battery usage is a concern which it always is with me! I recently bought a 16" LED TV from Makro which is just 1.2 amps or 14 watts for £90. Perfect. Anything lower than 20 watts or 1.7 to 2 amps is pretty good but I have seen nothing that comes close to the one from Makro. Even the £400 Avtex ones are not as frugal.
